Rosie Perez

 Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress, choreographer, dancer, and activist. Her biggest breakthrough came from Tina's performance in Do the Right Thing (1989), which was followed by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance on Fearless (1993), won her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her most prominent film roles include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008) as well as Birds of Prey (2020).





 Perez has received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990-1994) as well as an Emmy Award nomination for her performance in The Flight Attendant (2020-2024). She has appeared featured in Broadway productions like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. She was also the co-host of The View's 18th season on The View, ABC's talk show.  Childhood and early life



 Perez was born on September 6, 1964, in the Bushwick neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City and was the daughter of Lydia Perez and Ismael Serrano, a marine merchant seaman. [3][4][5Perez was the daughter of Ismael Serrano, a merchant Lydia Fontanez and her husband, Reyes was her mother. She was born on October 13, 1939 , in Humacao. Her father came from Aguadilla in Puerto Rico. Her mother was married to a man who was 20 years older than her, Arturo Perez. Following an affair with the father of Serrano Perez's mother been blessed with five kids. Perez was born in the now closed Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood in Brooklyn.





 Perez is one of ten children who were born by her mother. Rosie as well as her siblings were raised in Bushwick as their mother was detained for indefinite periods. The mother of her child was jailed when she had the birth of her eldest child. After being cared for by her aunt, she was placed in foster care and group homes. Her siblings and she were frequently divided. Then she was moved to a group foster home , and lived in foster care within New York and Peekskill until age eight. It was legal to consider her an ward of the State of New York until age twelve. Her aunt and mother regularly visited her, as did her father had a few times tried to take custody of her.
